Welcome to Forest Heights

Forest Heights has been part of my family’s story for more than three decades. My father, Gary, was the lead Realtor for the original developer beginning in 1990, back when his sales office was a trailer where Jim & Patty’s sits today and builders drew lottery tickets for the opportunity to choose lots in newly opened sections. I bought my own lot here in 1995, built our family home, and have called Forest Heights home ever since.

Forest Heights is positioned for access in both directions along Portland’s westside corridor. NW Cornell Road and NW Barnes Road provide connections toward Highway 26, placing downtown Portland to the east and Beaverton, Hillsboro and the Sunset Corridor to the west. TriMet does not operate a regular bus route through the neighborhood itself, but the community operates a private Forest Heights shuttle connecting residents with Sunset Transit Center. From Sunset, riders can access MAX Blue Line service between Hillsboro, Portland City Center and Gresham; MAX Red Line service connecting Hillsboro, the city center and Portland International Airport; and several TriMet bus routes. For most everyday errands, however, Forest Heights remains primarily car-oriented, particularly because of its hillside geography and limited commercial services within the neighborhood.

THE HONEST TAKE

The same setting that produces stunning views and wooded surroundings also makes the neighborhood less naturally walkable for everyday errands, while the absence of direct TriMet service makes a car considerably more useful here than in Portland’s denser inner neighborhoods. In practical terms, Forest Heights trades walk-to-everything urban convenience for space, newer construction, natural surroundings and a more deliberately planned residential environment.
